Goals of the Program:

  1. Provide career development and learning experience for interns in the emerging area of new approach methods and next-generation safety assessment (i.e., a combination of biology, chemistry, and data science approaches replacing and reducing animal testing with more effective and intelligent evidence-based methods to be used by industry in product design and risk assessment including human health, environmental health, and Green Deal goals);
  2. Support the practical training and learning experiences of interns in new approach methods and next-generation safety assessment, including exposure to and application of in vitro methods in our SaferWorldbyDesign partner labs, use of modern data management, analysis and modelling in silico methods, and developing experience in integrated methods combining in vitro and in silico methods and data;
  3. Provide intern exposure to our SaferWorldbyDesign partner network and collaboration with partners in the network e.g., working on smaller demonstration projects advancing our shared platform and market goals;
  4. Improve the employment prospects of interns, which could be with ourselves, our partners, or on the broader market;
  5. Work together on moving forward from the COVID-19 economically-challenged time into a near future with new scientific and business opportunities.
