Objective:

The objective of this training is to provide in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in the application and usage of skin sensitization cell models, including the KeratinoSens, h-Clat and SENS-IS assays. There will also be an introduction to the SaferSkin in silico platform, which can be used for early-stage testing and in a tiered testing strategy alongside in vitro models. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of these assays and learn how to integrate them using a Defined Approach (DA) for skin sensitization assessment.

Training Outline:

Week 1:

  • Introduction to skin sensitisation and the regulatory context
  • Overview of skin sensitization cell models, including h-Clat, KeratinoSens
  • Introduction to the SaferSkin in silico platform for early-stage testing
  • Theoretical background on the principles and validation of the assays

Week 2:

  • Hands-on training on sample preparation, testing, and data interpretation for h-Clat, KeratinoSens, and SaferSkin
  • Practical demonstrations of critical steps in the methods
  • Troubleshooting and data analysis techniques
  • Networking opportunities and knowledge sharing among participants
  • Social dinner
