SaferWorldbyDesign: Dosimetric Adjustments in Dose Response Assessment Virtual Training

The Dosimetric Adjustments in Dose-Response Assessment training will be conducted in collaboration with SaferWorldbyDesign and led by our partner TERA. This 4-hour course split into two 2-hour sessions, will provide participants with essential skills. Attendees will receive background materials and homework assignments to reinforce their learning. Overview:

This virtual 4-hour course offers essential training in the dosimetric adjustments crucial for dose-response assessment. Participants will understand the importance of dosimetric adjustments and learn practical methods for conducting them. Key topics include interspecies oral dose adjustment for noncancer and cancer assessment, cancer unit risk or slope factor conversion, inhalation exposure concentration unit conversion, and calculating human equivalent concentrations (HEC) for particle and vapor exposure.

Bernard K. Gadagbui, M.S., Ph.D., DABT, ERT, Senior Toxicologist at Toxicology Excellence for Risk Assessment (TERA)

Dr. Gadagbui has over 14 years of professional experience in environmental health, risk assessment, and toxicology. Dr. Gadagbui specializes in evaluation of adequacy of EPA uncertainty factors for database deficiency in protecting against effects on reproduction, hazard ranking and screening methods for chemicals in support of product hazard assessments, consumer safety assessments, and the threshold of toxicological concern approach. Prior to joining TERA in 2004, Dr. Gadagbui held toxicologist positions at the University of Florida and the Bureau of Pesticides of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). Dr. Gadagbui has received numerous awards.  In 2010, he led a project that received honorable mention for the Alice Hamilton Award for top risk assessment work at NIOSH. He also led a team of TERA scientists that won the 2010 Risk Reduction Achievement Award from the Alliance for Chemical Safety, a regional professional organization with a mission to promote public understanding and involvement in chemical risk management.

Schedule:

  • Two 2-hour sessions
  • Timed for 16 CEST / 10 AM EDT
  • November 21 & 22 - We will extend each day by two hours to allow participants ample time for breakout sessions to discuss the case study from the first day. Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate further and present their findings during the final hour on the second day.
